Four MN Medical Centers Recognized As Best Hospitals In U.S.
Of the roughly 150 hospitals in Minnesota, four are nationally ranked as being the best hospitals in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The 2016-2017 rankings, released Wednesday, are determined through a mixture of medical center data and physician surveys.

Minnesota’s nationally ranked hospitals are as follows:

| Mayo Clinic | Rochester | 15 specialties and another 8 in child care |
| Abbott Northwestern | Minneapolis   | 5 specialties |
| St. Cloud Hospital | St. Cloud | 2 specialties |
| University of Minnesota Medical Center | Minneapolis | 4 specialties in child care |
Seven other Minnesota hospitals were graded highly for meeting national high performing standards. Those hospital include:
- Mercy Hospital (Coon Rapids)
- Woodwinds Health Campus (Woodbury)
- North Memorial Hospital (Robbinsdale)
- Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital (St. Louis Park)
- St. John's Hospital (St. Paul)
- St. Joseph's Hospital (St. Paul)
- Unity Hospital (Fridley)
Given Mayo’s array of highly scored specialties—ranging from diabetes to psychiatry—the health organization was touted as the second-best hospital in the nation. Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston landed in the first place spot. The full list (including separate specialty rankings lists) can be found here.
