New Concert Venue, The Brick, to Debut in Downtown Mpls.

The Brick, which is located in the space formerly occupied by Club 3 Degrees, is currently under renovation and will begin hosting performances in late March.

A new concert venue is coming to downtown Minneapolis' Warehouse District.

AEG Live, the live-entertainment division of Los Angeles-based AEG, on Wednesday announced that the venue-which will be called “The Brick”-is currently under renovation and will host its first concerts in late March.

The Brick will be located in the former home of Christian concert venue Club 3 Degrees, just blocks from the Target Center, which is owned by the city and managed by AEG. A spokesperson for AEG declined to disclose the capacity of the new venue, but Club 3 Degrees previously held up to 1,700 concertgoers-and a report by Minnesota Public Radio indicates that the newly renovated venue will hold upwards of 2,000.

AEG said that The Brick-which will also offer private and corporate event spaces-will “cater to all types of live musical entertainment,” and its first concerts will be announced in the next few weeks. A recent report by the Star Tribune indicates that Jane's Addiction will be among the first performers to hit the new stage.

“The venue itself will lend itself well to all types of touring artists, from rock, country, and pop to R&B, jazz, comedy, and more,” Jeff Kehr, The Brick's general manager, said in a statement. “With many flexible seating configurations, our goal will be to welcome all genres of music and all audiences to experience this versatile facility.”

According to AEG, The Brick will feature “premium in-house sound and lighting,” LCD TV displays, and full-service bars on each of its three levels. The lower-level bar, called “The Basement @ The Brick,” will offer drinks before and after performances and will also be open Thursday through Saturday on non-event nights.
