Government technology and telecommunications service provider Granicus announced Thursday its acquisition of SouthTech Systems, a records management and disclosure solutions provider out of California. The sale price was not disclosed.

The deal is expected to bolster the technologies of St. Paul-based Granicus and provide SouthTech Systems customers with more capabilities and a better digital experience.

“By bringing SouthTech Systems software and expertise into the Granicus family, our customers will benefit from proven, modern technologies that meet the needs of the most sophisticated records processors in the U.S,” said Granicus CEO Mark Hynes in a statement.

Founded in 1994, SouthTech Systems automates records and disclosure processes for many of largest local government organizations throughout the nation, including Orange County, the City of Beverly Hills and the Metropolitan Water District of California.

SouthTech utilizes a turnkey technology system that automates the process of digitizing, approving, retrieving and payment processing of records like marriage, birth, death and land certificates. Its technology is designed to simplify and improve the work of government clerks and recorders, in part by streamlining the time it takes to process such records. SouthTech also provides automated disclosure solutions to help prove adherence to records law.

For its part, Granicus boasts cloud-based solutions for the communications, content and meeting, and agenda management tasks in government offices. The company currently serves more than 4,000 public sector organizations, with its products connecting more than 185 million people.

Granicus was originally headquartered in Denver, but since a merger in 2017 with St. Paul-based company GovDelivery, headquarter operations are spread across three locations. The St. Paul office holds the most employees of any site, with nearly 130 staff members.
