Office Envy: SunOpta’s New-Era HQ
Creating a sustainable workplace is more than a mantra for SunOpta, it’s a daily practice.

In 2024, the plant-based foods manufacturer installed 765 rooftop solar panels at its Eden Prairie headquarters, which generate nearly half of the 65,000-square-foot facility’s annual energy needs.
It’s the latest effort to integrate an environmental ethos into every facet of the business, says architect Derek McCallum of RSP.
Skylights, trees, and “pocket parks” define the space. McCallum says. The office features bamboo flooring, sustainable wood, and eco-friendly technology. There’s a café, yoga studio, and library.
The design industry has taken note: SunOpta’s office has received numerous accolades, including a 2022 International Interior Design Association Northland award for overall employee experience.
“The space creates a wonderful vibe,” says Stacy Seidel, head of sustainability. “People want to get together and collaborate. It is designed to help people feel good.”
