How to Plan Your Event Around the Generations
1. Communicate event details multiple ways.
Print invite, email, QR code—make sure there are several ways for guests to obtain information, says event planner Amy Zaroff.
2. Create engaging experiences.
“Gen X wants things very value-driven, they want clear and concise information and personalization,” Zaroff says. “Gen Z wants there to be interactive things. For example, Instagramable moments and interactive stations or activities where they’re participating in something rather than sitting and listening to something.”
3. Do your research.
When planning an event for your own company, make sure you discuss ideas in advance with a broad spectrum of colleagues. For an outside event planner coming in, Zaroff says, “It’s key to meet as many people from the company as possible to understand what each of the different groups within the organization are looking for. It’s about bringing everybody together at the end of the day.”
