Galleria Completes Major Redevelopment

Arhaus and Sweet Paris Creperie will open in the updated section of the Edina shopping center in the fall.

Construction on the north side of the Galleria is complete, but it will be a few months before the newly designed center section of the Edina shopping center is fully revealed.

The two-level anchor spot that was long home to Gabberts–Galleria’s original anchor—has been totally gutted and reconfigured to house a 25,000-square-foot Arhaus showroom and Sweet Paris Creperie, both slated to open in the fall. There’s also space for two other retailers not yet announced that a Galleria spokesperson says will debut in 2026.

Galleria’s newly updated center section.

The stakes are particularly high for Galleria as its larger rival across the street, Southdale Center, undergoes a $400 million transformation that is drawing many longtime Galleria tenants. The latest to announce their move from Galleria to Southdale are luxury jeweler David Yurman and preppy lifestyle store Vineyard Vines.

But if the response is anything like what happened when lululemon jumped to Southdale and Galleria swiftly replaced it with the Twin Cities’ first alo store, Galleria will have some significant announcements soon.

Meanwhile Arhaus is doubling down on Galleria, with a new showroom twice the size of its current one on the east end of the center. The showroom, which will have high visibility from the street,  will include a covered terrace to display outdoor furnishings.

The newly updated section of Galleria totals 53,536 square feet on two levels. Construction, by Kraus-Anderson, included a full interior demolition of both lower and main levels. The roof was raised by 10 feet to create more natural light in the concourse. There’s also a new glass elevator, and a new loading dock. The upgrade is apparent from the exterior as well, where the Galleria added new drive lanes and landscaping.

“This redevelopment reflects our commitment to the ongoing reinvention of Galleria,” Galleria’s property manager Paul Wagner said in a statement. “Through thoughtful design and strategic construction, we’re enhancing the shopping and dining experience for our guests.”
