Twin Cities PBS (TPT) on Thursday announced that it has named Sylvia Strobel as its new president and CEO. She’ll succeed James Pagliarini, who in 2018 announced plans to retire after 20 years with the organization. 

Strobel joins PBS with 25 years of public media experience under her belt. Most recently, she served as chief operating officer for ideastream, a Cleveland-based broadcast company. In that role she oversaw management of WVIZ/PBS, 90.3 WCPN-FM, the Ohio Channel, and Ohio Government Telecommunications.

Strobel will become TPT’s sixth president since and first female leader since its inception in 1957. She previously worked for the organization back in 1994, when she she served as deputy counsel.

She’s also worked as president and general manager for Pennsylvania Public TV Network and senior VP and general counsel for St. Paul-based American Public Media Group.

Strobel has also been active on several boards over the last two decades.

“TPT … has [blossomed] into a true 21st century media organization ensuring all have access to quality, educational content on multiple platforms,” she said.
