Obama To Make Appearances In Minneapolis Thursday And Friday

President Obama will make several appearances in Minneapolis on Thursday and Friday.

He'll attend a town hall at Minnehaha Park at about 2 p.m. Thursday and on Friday he'll speak about the economy at 10:50 a.m. at the Lake Harriet Bandshell. The talk is open to the public but tickets are required.

He'll also attend a political fundraiser Thursday night, and meet a Minneapolis mother who wrote to him about the struggles of a working family. The president talks about the mother, identified as Rebekah, on a YouTube video.

The president's schedule:


  • Arrive MSP, about 12:30 p.m.
  • Town Hall forum at Minnehaha Park, 2:10 p.m.
  • DCCC fundraiser, evening


  • Deliver remarks at Lake Harriet Bandshell, 10:50 a.m.
  • Depart from MSP, 12:15 p.m.

The White House rules for tickets and the Friday event:

  • Tickets for the bandshell appearance will be distributed Wednesday, at noon, at Lake Harriet Bandshell, 4135 W Lake Harriet Pkwy.
  • One ticket per person will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to limited space, the White House will only be able to distribute a limited number of tickets.
  • Public Entry on FridayNorthwest and southwest entrances to Lake Harriet Bandshell, 4135 W Lake Harriet Pkwy, Minneapolis.
  • Public Parking: Parking will be available at Parade Ice Arena, 600 Kenwood Pkwy., and transportation provided to and from the site beginning at 6:45 AM. Limited street parking will be available in the surrounding neighborhoods of Lake Harriet.
