MN Pipe Maker Acquired By Alabama-Based U.S. Pipe

U.S. Pipe hopes to expand its Midwest footprint with its first acquisition in Minnesota.

Fab Pipe, a Rogers-based fabricator and distributor of iron pipes, was acquired Monday by U.S. Pipe for an undisclosed sum.

U.S. Pipe and Fab Pipe primarily serve the water infrastructure market. Both companies manufacture ductile iron pipe products, fittings, and other parts used in drinking water and wastewater systems.

“Fab Pipe strengthens U.S. Pipe’s fabrication capabilities in the Midwest and allows us to better serve and grow with our key waterworks distributors,” U.S. Pipe CEO Paul Ciolino said in a statement. [Fab Pipe President] Ted Muntz has built a business with an outstanding reputation for serving its customers. We plan to apply his knowledge and expertise across our fabrication network.”

Officials from the participating parties couldn’t immediately be reached Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. A Fab Pipe staff member, however, told Twin Cities Business that the company has about 10 full-time employees.

“We are excited to be a part of U.S. Pipe, a leader in our industry that shares our values,” Muntz said in a statement. “Both organizations are 100 percent committed to best-in-class delivery, service, and quality.”

U.S. Pipe is based in Birmingham, Alabama and is a portfolio company of Rosemont, Illinois-based Wynnchurch Capital and West Palm Beach, Florida-based Comvest Partners.
