How We Work Now: Wells Fargo Twin Cities
At Wells Fargo, coming into the office is no longer just a suggestion.
In April, the bank announced a new policy for its non-customer-facing employees in the Twin Cities, including 5,500 who office downtown: staff groups must spend a minimum of three days a week in the office.
The change comes as Wells Fargo is consolidating into three Twin Cities locations, two in downtown Minneapolis and one in Shoreview.
Wells Fargo regional vice president and senior lead communications consultant Staci Schiller shares how it’s going:
- The schedule: “Team leadership makes the decision about which three days in the office. It varies, depending on the office building and business need. Midweek is generally livelier than Monday or Friday. Some teams do a full week in the office followed by a full week of remote work.”
- The rationale: “We want our Wells Fargo offices to be vibrant meeting places with great amenities, and our employees are telling us they want that, too. Bringing everyone together in fewer sites, particularly in downtown Minneapolis, will more consistently … support innovation and increase collaboration.”
- Office magnets: “In downtown, we have modern locations with great amenities. Our East Town campus includes features such as bike storage, locker rooms with showers, coffee stations, outdoor patios, quiet rooms, and 24/7 on-site security. This summer, we have many employee engagement activities planned downtown, including volunteer and wellness events, a blood drive, networking and social opportunities, and career development sessions that … build community at work.”
