Great Clips Nets Over $850K for Children’s Hospitals

The Minneapolis-based salon chain has raised money for more than 170 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Great Clips salons raised more than $850,000 in a 2019 fundraising campaign for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, the company announced Wednesday.

The Children’s Miracle Network includes over 170 member hospitals that treat kids with serious illnesses. Each year, salons sell “miracle balloons” with the proceeds benefiting each business’ local hospital. More than 1,600 Great Clips salons in the United States and Canada took part in the campaign. (Great Clips operates 4,500 salons in total.)

“Funds raised are used to buy specialized equipment, building new treatment facilities, conducting ground-breaking research, and helping families that cannot afford lifesaving care for their children,” Antonia Etcheverry, director of corporate partnerships for the network, said in a press release.

Each salon raised an average of $550 to 650. Spokesperson Lise Hake said this year’s campaign was on trend with past fundraisers.

“One of the focus areas for Great Clips franchisees is the health of their communities,” Hake said. “They are involved and connected to other businesses, their neighbors, schools, and events.”

The annual October hospital network fundraiser has been part of the company’s Great Deeds program for 15 years.

“We’re grateful each year for the support from Great Clips franchisees and their customers that participate in the annual campaign,” Etcheverry said in the release.
