Top Tickets: Woody Allen And His New Orleans Jazz Band
The reason you never see Woody Allen at the Academy Awards, even when he’s winning, is that he has a standing jazz gig the following day at New York’s Carlyle hotel that he refuses to miss. Allen, who plays clarinet, is in that class of celebrity musicians who are “better than you’d expect,” and now he and his friends are bringing their gig here for a night. Dixieland and old-time classic jazz is their thing, and the band supposedly knows more than 1,200 songs, so no two shows are the same.
