St. Cloud-based Marco Acquires Michigan Industry Peer
In its latest bid to expand the company’s geographical reach, Marco, a provider of print, copy and IT services, has acquired the Macomb, Michigan-located Prime Office Innovations. The deal for Prime is Marco’s 12th acquisition in two years.
The deal with Prime also marks St. Cloud-based Marco’s second step into the Michigan market, as just a few months ago Marco acquired the Dearborn, Michigan-based Governor Business Solutions.
“The goal has always been to continue expansion, for sure, in the Upper Midwest and beyond. And Michigan was one state we had not yet entered,” says Jennifer Mrozek, Marco’s executive vice president, of that first foray into the state. “As you look at the map, based on our current geography, it seemed appropriate we should be in Michigan.”
As was the case when Marco acquired Governor, Prime’s staff of 16 people will all remain on, and continue to participate in operations at the Macomb site. Prime Office Innovations’ two owners will also join Marco, with one serving as sales manager and the other serving as the production print specialist.
“We are excited to join the Marco team,” said Donna Kalmeta, COO of Prime, in a statement. “Our business cultures are very similar, and we are extremely excited about the future growth opportunities in Michigan with this investment from Marco.”
The clients Prime has served since 2002 will be added to Marco’s existing network of more than 32,000 customers it deals with across 50 locations nationwide. Marco’s network is also comprised of 1,180 employees, with its offices concentrated between Rapid City, South Dakota, and Green Bay, Wisconsin.
In terms of future expansion, Mrozek says Marco will “continue looking for opportunities across the U.S.”
Mrozek says terms of the deal between Marco and Prime Office Innovations are confidential.
