SparkStarter Reaches 100,000 Downloads, Raises $250K In Funding

The Woodbury-based app officially launched less than two months ago.

Woodbury-based matchmaker SparkStarter said its mobile app has 100,000 downloads and 10 million profiles created.

While the app, which launched just before Valentine’s Day, offers features similar to Tinder—users that rate each other positively are matched and can chat—it’s the matchmaker feature that sets it apart: Users can set their friends up on dates by rating pairings of their connections on Facebook.

“I truly believe in the age-old act of matchmaking, and want other people to have the same simple but digital opportunity with Sparkstarter,” founder and CEO Tony Kramer said in a statement back at launch time.

Minnesota technology blog tech.mn broke the news of the numbers and also said the company raised $250,000 in funding recently, with another quarter of a million coming via open round.
