Seeking Editorial Intern for Twin Cities Business
Twin Cities Business is in search of an editorial intern to assist in fact checking and reporting/writing projects for both print and online (tcbmag.com).
Job Description: The paid position ($13.25/hour) is 20-25 hours per week and involves fact checking, participating in various editorial projects, and writing for Twin Cities Business (TCB) print and online. Interns develop research and reporting skills while getting an inside look at the workings of a print magazine and daily news website. We want our interns to leave the program with an understanding of both print and digital publishing platforms, which is crucial in today’s job market. Recent former TCB interns went on to work at Reorg, Jacksonville Business Journal, Haworth Marketing + Media, and other publications and content companies. We also encourage our interns to pitch stories throughout the internship.
Internship Dates: This year, due to Covid-19, we will be offering a mostly remote internship set to start on Aug. 9. The internship will run through Jan. 31, with the possibility of extension beyond that date.
Requirements: You must have a computer and internet access for this position. Candidates must be pursuing or have graduated with a Journalism/media degree, or have related experience. Eagerness, willingness to learn, and interest in magazines and business is a must. Experience at a student or other publication is preferred.
To Apply: To apply, please email a cover letter, current resume, and three writing samples or clips (no academic writing, please) to TCB associate editor Tess Allen at TAllen@tcbmag.com. You must also include the date you can start, as well as your Monday through Friday availability, to be considered. Strong candidates have very clean, articulate application packages. Items should be in PDF format. Apply by July 30. We will contact candidates as soon as we are able.
