Rapper Ice Cube Plugs Mpls.-based Peace Coffee
Good things seem to be brewing for Minneapolis-based Peace Coffee.
Rapper Ice Cube-who plays a police captain in the Hollywood hit 21 Jump Street that's now in theaters-recently plugged the organic, fair-trade java in a Bon Appétit mini profile.
Ice Cube, who claims to “make a mean cup of coffee,” told the national food magazine that his morning routine includes waking up at 5:30 or 6 a.m. and enjoying either Peace Coffee or Starbucks. He likes his coffee strong, he said.
Peace Coffee put a link to the mini-profile on its website and wrote: “We are honored to count Ice Cube among our legions of fans!”
Peace Coffee was born out of late-night conversations between its parent organization, the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, and a group of Mexican farmers. It partners directly with small-scale coffee farmers around the world and buys only fair-trade, organic beans. Its mission: to make exceptional coffee that sustains the livelihoods of the people who grow, roast, and sell it.
Peace Coffee delivers beans to its wholesale accounts by bicycle as much as possible. It's available to consumers at various cafés, co-ops, and grocery stores-or online.
