Prime Therapeutics Adds More Jobs With New Pharmacy Center

After a series of recent job expansions, the Eagan-based pharmacy benefit management company said it plans to add 80 employees at a new pharmacy resource center in New Mexico.

Prime Therapeutics, LLC, announced Tuesday that it will continue its fast-paced job growth with the opening of a new pharmacy resource center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The company is adding 80 to its current 300 Albuquerque employees to staff the new center, which is scheduled to open September 9.

The Eagan-based company—which manages pharmacy benefits for health plans, employers, and health care programs including Medicare and Medicaid—said it is expanding its presence in Albuquerque in anticipation of new business from health care exchanges.

Prime Therapeutics will hire 40 new pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and supervisors to oversee member counseling and medication consultations for the company’s home-delivery service PrimeMail. An additional 40 pharmacists and technicians will process prescriptions for Prime Therapeutics’ members.

“The hiring of 80 additional professionals at Prime’s Albuquerque facility demonstrates Prime’s investment in ensuring every member experience is superior,” Senior Vice President of Consumer Delivery Duane Barnes said in a statement. “It also demonstrates our satisfaction in the quality, skilled workforce that Albuquerque offers.”

The company most recently added 200 new positions in Irving, Texas. It has also added 443 jobs in Minnesota over the past year.

Founded in 1987, Prime Therapeutics reported $2.04 billion in 2012 revenue. It employs a total of 2,939—1,523 of whom work in Minnesota. Prime Therapeutics is collectively owned by 13 Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, including subsidiaries and affiliates of those plans.

Prime Therapeutics said it is seeking to immediately fill the 80 new positions in Albuquerque, with start dates as early as September 9. All job openings are posted on the company’s website.
