North Memorial Health Partners With Trellis Rx To Expand Specialty Pharmacy Program
Minnesota hospital system North Memorial Health has teamed up with Atlanta-based pharmacy service provider Trellis Rx to expand its specialty pharmacy program, designed for patients who need very specific medications. With a customer-centered approach, the expanded services will include direct, in-clinic access to pharmacists and patient liaisons.
These added features boost coordination, education and support for customers with complex and costly medication regimens or therapies.
“The experience for a customer prescribed a specialty medication can often be challenging,” said Paul Krogh, system director, Pharmacy and Infectious Disease at North Memorial Health, in a statement. “By making pharmacists an integral part of the care team in our specialty clinics, we will personalize this experience for our customers to keep them compliant with their therapy and on the path to achieving their desired health outcomes.”
In addition to helping patients with prescription regiments, liaisons will also work with individuals on two often challenging aspects to regimen adherence: insurance authorization and finding financial assistance.
The team-up comes as the latest iteration of health systems joining forces with pharmaceutical companies, following larger-scale deals in the form of acquisitions – for example, Minnetonka-based UnitedHealth Group bought Washington-based mental health-focused pharmacy operator Genoa Healthcare in October, and CVS bought Aetna in 2017.
For its part, North Memorial Health is comprised of more than 900 doctors and more than 5,000 team members, and serves customers through specialty and primary care clinics, home care, medical transportation services and two hospitals: North Memorial Health Hospital and Maple Grove Hospital.
Trellis Rx works with health systems nationwide to fund, build and operate specialty pharmacy programs with a focus on providing personalized services to each individual patient.
“North Memorial Health’s commitment to patient empowerment and exceptional service matches our own approach and philosophy,” said Andy Maurer, CEO at Trellis Rx, in prepared remarks. “We are excited to help advance their mission of change in healthcare and to further the impact of their already outstanding program.”
The expanded services from the North Memorial Health and Trellis Rx partnership in regards to oncology and infectious disease customers will be rolled out this month.
