Eagan-based Intercim, LLC-which provides manufacturing operations management software to companies around the globe-was acquired by a French company that paid $36.5 million.

Buyer Dassault Systmes, which has been a minority owner of Intercim since 2009, plans to retain all of the company's employees, according to spokesman Derek Lane.

Intercim has offices throughout the United States and Europe-although its numbers of worldwide employees and office locations weren't immediately available Friday afternoon. According to Lane, the company employs 49 in the United States.

Intercim provides software to customers in advanced and highly regulated industries. The software aims to help customers be more productive by enabling production engineers, inspectors, and supply networks to better define manufacturing processes, execute shop orders, manage non-conformance, and ensure product quality.

Dassault Systmes, meanwhile, is a product lifecycle management company that serves businesses of all sizes and in all sectors. Its applications provide a 3-D plan of products-from conception to maintenance to recycling.

By combining efforts, Intercim's capabilities-which including capturing real-world information from the shop floor-can be used to modify the 3-D plan as necessary to improve product quality, ensure that standards are being met, and heighten production efficiency, Lane said.

Intercim's customers include Boeing, Sanofi, Pasteur, Airbus, Ball Aerospace, BMW, and Honeywell. The company has existing technology partnerships with Dassault Systmes, SAP, and Microsoft.

Lane said that Intercim will likely be integrated into Dassault Systmes' Delmia brand. The brand provides digital manufacturing and process planning.
