Merrill Corp. Acquires CA Company
One of Minnesota’s larger private companies, Merrill Corporation, recently announced that it purchased court reporting and videoconferencing firm Grossman & Cotter for an undisclosed sum.
St. Paul-based Merrill provides financial printing and publishing services for business communication and information management. Grossman is based in Palo Alto, and Merrill said the acquisition will allow the company’s deposition services to expand its client base throughout California.
“We’ve always had the greatest respect for Merrill Corporation as a leader in the court reporting industry,” Grossman & Cotter co-founder Paula Massoni Cotter said in a statement. “Merrill’s long-standing culture of client service and its full suite of services will allow us to enhance and expand the services we offer to our clients.”
Representatives for Merrill could not be immediately reached for comment on how the deal will affect the companies’ work forces. And a representative for Grossman declined to comment on any details of the transaction.
Merrill said that after the acquisition, Grossman clients will have access to its deposition and court reporting support as well as its document processing, translations, virtual data rooms, and other services.
Merrill employs more than 5,000 workers and operates about 40 domestic and 22 international locations.
Grossman provides court reporting and other litigation support services, specializing in environmental, medical, patent trademark, and asbestos litigation.
