Mayo To Open Express Care Clinic Inside Hy-Vee Grocery Store In Mankato

The clinic will stick to treating minor health issues like sore throats, sinus infections and the flu.

Mayo Clinic announced on Tuesday plans to open a retail clinic branded as “Express Care” inside the Hilltop Hy-Vee grocery store in Mankato.

The Rochester-based medical institution said construction of the clinic is set to begin in the next several weeks.

In a statement, Greg Kutcher, M.D., vice president of Mayo Clinic Health System in the southwest Minnesota region, said the new clinic will “enhance access to our services, provide convenient care and help patients get the right care where it is most convenient for them.”

The Hilltop Hy-Vee, located at 2010 Adams Street and one of two Hy-Vee stores in Mankato, will locate the clinic adjacent to its current pharmacy operations.

The clinic will be staffed by nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses. The clinic will relegate its treatment services to sore throats, sinus infections, minor cuts, colds, the flu, and similar health issues.

However, Mayo said its Express Clinic inside Hy-Vee would be capable of referring patients to other Mayo Clinics or specialty care providers. Most insurance policies will be accepted by the clinic, the release noted.

The Hilltop Hy-Vee expects to open the Mayo Express Care Clinic addition sometime in May.
