Marc Jacobs Will Open at Southdale

The Edina mall announces another wave of store openings including Kendra Scott, Swarovski, and Tumi as part of a major renovation.

Marc Jacobs is the latest designer brand to sign on at Southdale Center, joining a growing list of luxury retailers planning to open at the Edina mall in 2025. The fashion brand—coveted for its handbags, accessories, and apparel—will join Burberry, Gucci, Max Mara, Moncler and other high end labels in a new luxury wing slated to open next June.

Other new retailers announced Thursday: jewelry brands Swarovski and Kendra Scott, Tumi luggage, and, opening its first Twin Cities location, menswear brand State & Liberty. Southdale owner Simon also confirmed Abercrombie & Fitch, Abercrombie Kids, children’s retailer Janie and Jack and piercing studio Rowan will open shops at Southdale. In all, Southdale has announced 21 new brands so far this year and the mall said at least three more designer brands will be announced soon.

The influx of new stores is part of a $400 million makeover of the nation’s oldest enclosed shopping mall with a focus on making it a multi-use destination. Kowalski’s Market opened at Southdale in late May. The grocery store will be joined later this summer on the outward facing southeast side of the mall by upscale mini-golf concept Puttshack and a newly relocated Peoples Organic restaurant.

In addition to the buildout of the luxury wing, which is also on the southeast end of Southdale, common areas are being updated throughout the center to bring in more nature and light. Updates include cascading greenery, new skylights, a lighter color palette, updated lighting, and modern seating.
