Land O’Lakes Joins Accelerator Program For AgTech Startups

The food producer will take part in judging and mentoring startups.

Land O’Lakes announced Wednesday that it would participate in the Thrive accelerator, an investment program dedicated to innovative and technology-enabled agricultural startups from around the world.

The accelerator, led by tech and advisory firm SVG Partners in Silicon Valley, received nearly 200 applications from 35 countries for its 2016 program. Yesterday, the narrowed pool of 36 applicants pitched their startup to a list of judges and experts, including individuals affiliated with Land O’Lakes.

“As a leader in AgTech, we are excited to offer our expertise and leadership to the Thrive accelerator program and support innovative start-ups in driving the future of our industry,” said Mike Macrie, CIO of Arden Hills-based Land O’Lakes.

By April 4, ten finalists will commence an 8-week accelerator program that will involve business strategy reviews, mentor meetings, pitch training, and an opportunity to receive up to $5 million in seed funding.
