Lake Elmo Inn Among Top 100 U.S. Eateries for Brunch

The Lake Elmo restaurant was named one of the 100 best restaurants for brunch by reviewers using the OpenTable reservation system.

Diners hunting for a top-notch brunch should look no further than the Lake Elmo Inn-because it's among the 100 best restaurants in the nation when it comes to serving up the late-morning meal.

That's according to OpenTable, which included the Lake Elmo eatery on its recently released list of the “Best 100 Restaurants for Brunch in the United States.” OpenTable, whose website allows diners to make restaurant reservations online, compiled the list based on nearly 5 million reviews from diners using its system. More than 12,000 restaurants were reviewed.

OpenTable's top 100 list, which isn't ranked, includes restaurants from 23 states and Washington, D.C. California and New York are home to the most restaurants on the list, with 24 and 23, respectively.

According to OpenTable, the Lake Elmo Inn was established in 1881 and has amassed numerous awards for its brunch service. It was the only Minnesota restaurant to appear on the list.

“The best brunches in the nation are being served at restaurants that have the ability to turn this meal into a celebration of the most leisurely days of the week,” Caroline Potter, OpenTable's chief dining officer, said in a statement. “Offering terrific twists on the dishes diners of all ages crave, this year's honorees have mastered the art of making brunch fun for everyone.”

In March, OpenTable released its list of the 100 best restaurants for service, which was also based on reviews submitted by OpenTable users. Four Minnesota restaurants-Acqua Restaurant & Wine Bar, Capital Grille, Joan's in the Park, and La Belle Vie-were recognized on that list.

A recent Twin Cities Business feature story examined the restaurant reservations business, including the competition between companies like OpenTable and Minneapolis-based Eveve.
