One hundred companies from Minnesota were named to the Inc. 5000 list. The annual list tracks the fastest-growing companies across the United States.
 
The highest-ranked company in the state is Golden Valley-based Morning Star Financial Services, which came in at 141st place. It had 2014 revenues of $44.2 million and its three-year growth rate was 2,733 percent.
 
Rounding out the top five for Minnesota was Brooklyn Center-based Zerbee Business Products (154th), Bloomington-based IT consulting company Integrhythm (178th), Minneapolis-based web design template builder LeadPages and  Winona-based medical support services company Vighter Medical Group (341st).
 
The top spot across the nation was Costa Mesa, California-based Ultra Mobile, which is a mobile virtual network provider that offers cell phone plans that feature international communication services at no additional charge. They’ve seen a three-year growth rate of over 100,000 percent.
 
The MSP metro ranked 16th across the country for the number of companies to the make the list with 73. New York City took the top spot with 381 companies. Among states, Minnesota ranked 18th overall. California had the most with 681 companies.
 
The energy sector saw the most growth: 255 percent. Other fast-growing sectors include media (247 percent), advertising and marketing (201 percent) and financial services (166 percent).
