Hotel, Apartments Planned Near Xcel Center In St. Paul

Opus unveiled plans for a two-building development that could include a hotel, apartments, townhomes, retailers, and up to 300 parking stalls.

New details have surfaced about plans to redevelop a site near the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul.

Opus Development Company revealed plans on Monday for the site, located off Chestnut Street and a block from the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul, and the Pioneer Press reported on the details.

The Minnetonka-based company's plans call for adding a six-story, two-building complex that would include a hotel, apartments, townhomes, retailers, and up to 300 parking stalls, the Pioneer Press reported. The project would replace the Ace Seven Corners Hardware Store on West Seventh Street.

Meanwhile, Twin Cities Business recently reported on two other sites in St. Paul that may be revived.

One of those properties is called “Seven Corners Gateway”—and the 2.4-acre site, which is currently a surface parking lot and is across the street from the Xcel, is located very near to the site where Opus is proposing a mixed-use project.
