Home Depot To Hire More Than 1,300 In MN

The home and garden retailer is hiring a total of 80,000 employees at stores throughout the United States for its spring season.

The Home Depot recently announced significant hiring plans for its chain of stores.

Company spokeswoman Catherine Woodling told Twin Cities Business that the company is planning to hire approximately 45 sales associates at each store in Minnesota—totaling more than 1,300 employees in the state.

The Atlanta-based home and garden retailer plans to hire 80,000 total employees across the country to work at its stores this spring—one of the busiest times of the year for business, it said.

“Spring is our peak hiring season, giving us the opportunity to find some of the best associates who are passionate about customer service,” Tim Crow, Home Depot’s executive vice president of human resources, said in a statement.

Home Depot said that job opportunities “are available on a market-by-market basis, based on individual store needs and geographical variance in climate.” The company encouraged college students, retirees, veterans, and reservists to apply.

Woodling said that positions at Minnesota Home Depot stores “will be available in the front end, lot, and garden departments to assist with the anticipated spring sales growth.” She said that the company will try to retain as many of its seasonal workers as it can.

“Over the last few years, nearly half of our seasonal hires have stayed with the company,” she said.

Home Depot currently employs more than 300,000 sales associates—4,500 of whom are in Minnesota.
