Fortune: Mayo Clinic Among Top 25 Cos. With Most Openings

The health system has nearly 2,000 job postings.

Job seekers looking to find employment with a top-notch company need not look very far: the Rochester-based Mayo Clinic is among the nation’s best places to work—and they’re hiring—according to Fortune.

The state’s largest private employer, based out of Rochester, was named among the 25 best companies hiring (it ranked 73rd overall on Fortune’s “2015 Best Companies” list) and has nearly 2,000 openings available across southeast and southern Minnesota.

More than 500 of the openings are for registered nurses, but Mayo is also looking for physicians, scientists, assistants, lab technicians and administrative workers.

But how do you snag a good job? Mayo’s director of recruitment strategies, Brent Bultema, shared some pointers with the magazine, such as effectively presenting your qualifications on your resume and during your interview. But he stressed that demonstrating ‘job fit’ was also important.

“Many candidates—even those who are highly qualified—don’t capitalize on this opportunity to demonstrate cultural fit in their applications,” Bultema told Fortune.

It’s been a banner year for Mayo Clinic, with operating income up by more than a third from last year, according to financials released last week. Last year was its strongest performance in over a quarter century.
