Fast-Growing Prime Therapeutics Adds More Jobs
Eagan-based Prime Therapeutics is continuing to create jobs, announcing last week plans to add 200 new positions in Irving, Texas.
Prime is a pharmacy benefit management company with services that cover more than 20 million individuals. It manages benefits for health plans, employers, and government programs, including Medicare and Medicaid.
The new Texas jobs are customer service positions at the company’s contact center, and they are designed to help grow the company’s membership in Prime’s Medicare, pharmacy home delivery, and health care exchange businesses.
“Irving has been, and continues to be, an excellent market for the skill set we need to deliver a superior experience for our members,” Chief Operating Officer Glen Laschober said in a statement. “In return, the creation of 200 more professional jobs in Irving helps the local economy, making this a win-win for everyone.”
The company currently employs more than 600 professionals in Irving. In addition to customer service representatives, the center houses pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, as well as the center’s supervisors, finance, human resources, and IT staff.
In December 2011, Prime landed a $500,000 forgivable loan from the state of Minnesota, with a goal of adding 300 local IT and business analyst jobs. A company spokeswoman told Twin Cities Business that by October 2012, Prime had filled about a third of the local positions and have since added an additional 344 throughout Minnesota.
The company was recognized in December 2012 as one of Inc. magazine’s top 100 “Hire Power Awards” winners for fueling local economies through work force expansion. Prime was ranked 34th on the inaugural list, making it the highest-ranked Minnesota company.
Prime was founded in 1987, has a total of 2,700 employees—1,275 of which work in Minnesota—and has an annual revenue of about $2 billion, according to the company spokeswoman. The company is collectively owned by 13 Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, as well as subsidiaries and affiliates of those plans.
The company is looking to fill the new 200 positions in Texas immediately, with start dates ranging from August 5 to October 7. All openings for the Irving office, as well as additional openings for Minnesota jobs, are posted on the company’s website.
