Creative Agency Carmichael Lynch Names Its New CFO

Minneapolis-based marketing firm Carmichael Lynch didn’t have to look far for a new executive, naming its director of financial planning and analysis John Green as its new CFO.

Creative agency Carmichael Lynch announced Thursday the promotion of John Green, formerly its director of financial planning and analysis, to the role of chief financial officer.

Green has been at Minneapolis-based Carmichael Lynch for 15 years and working in the finance sector for nearly a quarter-century. He began his career as an auditor at Ernst & Young. Since then he’s worked for The Pillsbury Company and General Mills, before joining Carmichael lynch in 2003.

“I’m incredibly proud to be part of the leadership, work and culture at Carmichael Lynch,” said Green, in a statement. “We’re doing transformative work for our clients… and the role of CFO at a creative agency like this one is the most fun you can have in finance.”

Carmichael Lynch is one of the biggest creative agencies in the Twin Cities, and boasts Subaru, Jack Link’s, GNC and U.S. Bank as some of its clients.

Green will take over the Carmichael Lynch CFO position from Mark Feriancek, though Feriancek will continue on as Chief Operating Officer – a role he’s held simultaneously while maintaining CFO duties.

In prepared remarks, Marcus Fischer, CEO of Carmichael Lynch, thanked Feriancek for helping bring about five consecutive years of double-digit growth. He praised Green similarly.

“John has provided Carmichael with exceptional financial leadership in his time at Carmichael Lynch and has been an integral component in the phenomenal growth and change over the last decade of the agency,” said Fischer, who in early 2017 was promoted to CEO of the firm. “[John is] a valued member of the company and his quality of leadership and character are a great guiding force in the agency.”
