Cirus Controls Acquired By Illinois Manufacturer

Both companies make equipment and parts for clearing snow.

Cirus Controls, a Brooklyn Park-based manufacturer of winter-road-maintenance equipment, said Tuesday that Illinois-based Certified Power Inc. had acquired it.
Neither of the companies disclosed terms of the deal. But Certified Power, a fluid power products manufacturer, said the two were a good fit between their cultures and product lines. Cirus Controls would add to Certified Power’s lineup of hydraulics and controls for snow-clearing equipment, while also adding telematics and electronic equipment that makes plowing more productive.
“Cirus Controls’ market solutions are highly strategic and complementary to our winter road maintenance products business,” Certified Power president Scott Rosenzweig said in a statement. “This is a great combination of two best-in-class businesses that brings together complementary hydraulics and electronics expertise to the significant benefit of our customers.”
Paul Mortell, founder and president of Cirus Controls, will continue to run the business.
Certified Power has nine locations across the Midwest, including a facility in Burnsville.
