3M Deemed World’s Top Dental Innovator For 11th Straight Year
3M was recognized as the Most Innovative Company in the Dental Industry in 2015, the company said Wednesday, marking the 11th consecutive year 3M has earned this award.
Industry analysts with The Anaheim Group, an oral care industry publication located in Arizona, determine the Innovation Index rankings every year based on the number of new product approvals and patents a company produces. Last year, 3M had 95 such “innovations,” which is 25 percent more than any other dental company.
The Maplewood-based manufacturer of Post-It Notes, Scotch tape, and other industrial supplies is well known within the dental community for its popular Filtek, RelyX, and Scotchbond brands. Two of 3M’s more recent innovations involve the use of zirconia restorative materials and nanotechnology that ultimately aim to make teeth cleaner, brighter and stronger.
“Receiving the Most Innovative honor for more than a decade is a testament to what 3M excels at—applying science to help keep people healthy,” said James D. Ingebrand, vice president and general manager of 3M’s oral car solutions division. “Every day, we explore new ways to impact lives, as we consistently pursue new product and process innovations with a focus on promoting lifelong oral health for all.”
