3 MN Eateries Among Top “Family-Friendly Restaurants”
Three Twin Cities restaurants are among the 100 most-popular family-friendly eateries in the country.
That’s according to online dining reservation website Urbanspoon, whose recently released list is based on which restaurants received the most positive reviews from professional food critics, bloggers, and users of Urbanspoon services.
While one might expect the list to comprise noisy establishments that cater to kids, it actually contains many restaurants that offer more sophisticated cuisine.
The Minnesota restaurants that made the cut are Fogo de Chao, a downtown Minneapolis Brazilian-style steakhouse; Pizzeria Lola, a Southwest Minneapolis eatery featuring wood-fired pizzas; and The Anchor Fish & Chips, a Northeast Minneapolis establishment that sells Alaskan cod and hand-cut fries, as well as other menu items such as hamburgers and pasties.
Urbanspoon said that the list “features a variety of restaurant types, from fast-casual options like pizzerias and burger joints to fine dining locations that have a soft spot for kids.” Many of the restaurants that made the list offer large, sharable plates that are conducive to family dining, the company said.

“A great family-friendly restaurant isn’t all about grilled cheese sandwiches,” Urbanspoon co-founder Patrick O'Donnell said in a statement. They should “offer a nice atmosphere and a diverse menu, which will make everyone happy,” he added.
Earlier this year, Urbanspoon released its “Most Popular Restaurant Bars” list—and four Minneapolis establishments made the cut.
