Xcel Energy Elects Former Padilla CEO Lynn Casey to Its Board

Casey’s addition to Minneapolis-based Xcel Energy’s board was made effective immediately.

Former Padilla CEO Lynn Casey has added another board seat to her resume.

Xcel Energy on Tuesday welcomed her onto its board, citing Casey’s experience in brand strategy and investor, corporate, and media relations as drivers behind the decision.

After helping to engineer the deal to sell Minneapolis-based Padilla to Avenir Global, Casey used the occasion to announce an end to her 17-year tenure as the public relations firm’s CEO. She did, however, keep her seat as chairman of Padilla’s board.

“Lynn’s extraordinary experience in creating and delivering high-impact communication strategies, her forward-thinking approach and her strong commitment to the local community will serve Xcel Energy well,” said Xcel president and CEO Ben Fowke in a statement.

Casey currently serves on the board of the University of Minnesota Foundation and previously chaired both the Greater Twin Cities United Way and Meet Minneapolis boards of directors.

Casey is also a member of the Minnesota Business Hall of Fame, a distinction she earned in 2014.
