Warm Skin

Aurora Naturally’s product moisturizes and insulates.

If the Vikings go domeless, how will they—and their fans—handle the cold? Players already have something in their lockers to help: Warm Skin.

Minneapolis skin- and hair-care company Aurora Naturally makes it, and cofounder Kathryn Frommer says the fatty acids in Warm Skin moisturize and insulate. (It’s not magic. Frommer says you could get similar effects with petroleum jelly, but that’s greasy and tends to feel cold because it stays on the skin’s surface.) Warm Skin, sold at warmskin.com, through natural-products and sports retailers, and through sports medicine catalogs, got its NFL breakthrough when a sales rep, a former University of Pittsburgh fullback, sold it to the Pittsburgh Steelers about 12 years ago. Now Aurora Naturally supplies the Vikes, the Pack, and other teams.
