UnitedHealth Group To Hire 1,700 Workers In Next Six Months

The additional employees are needed as business at the health insurer surges.

UnitedHealth Group said on Monday it would hire 1,700 new workers in the next six months.

The nation’s largest private health insurer, based in Minnetonka, will have positions in finance, business operations, network management, sales and marketing, clinical, customer service, health care operations, information technology, sales and administration. Both its UnitedHealthcare insurance division and health IT division, Optum, will be hiring.

A company spokesman said in the statement that growth throughout all of its business divisions was driving the need to hire more people. Both commercial customers and Medicare/Medicaid programs saw increased enrollment.

The company is also adding 140 customer services jobs in Duluth and 1,000 telecommuting positions. UnitedHealth Group said that they are committed to hiring veterans during the process.
