Twin Cities Restaurants on Zagat’s Best-of Rankings

In a survey in which 10,554 diners weighed in on everything from their favorite burger and fries to salad and fast-food chain, Caribou Coffee and Buffalo Wild Wings were among the local chains that did well.

Guidebook publisher Zagat recently announced the results of its 2012 fast-food survey for best restaurant chains, food items, drinks, and more—and several Twin Cities-based chains made the lists.

Buffalo Wild Wings topped the list of best wings and was followed by KFC, Pizza Hut, Domino’s Pizza, and Zaxby’s. Golden Valley-based Buffalo Wild Wings also appeared in a ranking for best décor, coming in fifth among large fast food chains—or chains with 100 to 5,000 locations.

Brooklyn Center-based Caribou Coffee was named the top overall quick-refreshment chain. The coffeehouse chain also emerged with top rankings for both décor and service among quick-refreshment chains. It came in fourth for best coffee; Starbucks took the top spot in that category, followed by Dunkin Donuts and McDonald’s.

Edina-based Dairy Queen, meanwhile, ranked fourth for best milk shake, followed by Häagen-Dazs—owned by Golden Valley-based General Mills—which came in fifth. Häagen-Dazs also ranked third for best ice cream/custard.

T.G.I. Friday’s, which is owned by Minnetonka-based hospitality company Carlson, took the fourth and fifth spots among full-service restaurants for best dessert and best burgers, respectively.

In order to compile its best-of lists, Zagat surveyed 10,554 diners who voted for their favorite food items and fast food chains. To view Zagat’s full report, click here.
