At least the Eagles, after 40-plus years, aren’t pretending that they’re musically relevant anymore. They understand they’re a piece of rock ’n’ roll history, and the band’s recent Showtime documentary has provided a reference point (or perhaps an excuse) to travel the country playing hits that everyone over 40 knows by heart.
