The Tile Shop Ends 2016 With Two New Store Openings

One of the natural stone tile retailer’s new stores is in the untapped Washington D.C. market.

The Tile Shop capped off 2016 with new store openings in Washington, D.C. and the Chicago area.

Chris Homeister, CEO of the Plymouth-based natural stone tiles retailer, said its location at the nation’s capital is new territory for the company

“Our first ‘Inside-the-Beltway’ retail showroom extends our existing presence in the Maryland and Virginia suburbs,” Homeister said, “enabling D.C. residents, interior designers, contractors and home builders with the finest tile, stone and accessories available.”

The Tile Shop’s new 10,400-square-foot store opened on December 31, 2016 in the Tenleytown neighborhood of Washington D.C.

On that same day, the retailer opened its 12th store in the Chicago area. The Tile Shop’s new 12,500-square-foot location in Schereville, Indiana is roughly 35 miles southeast of downtown Chicago.

“Schereville is an ideal location for our ongoing Chicago-area expansion,” Homeister said. “As the northwest Indiana suburbs continue to grow, we are looking forward to now be serving residents, interior designers, contractors and home builders” in the area.

Since going public in 2012, The Tile Shop’s growth has been on a tear. In just the last year, the retailer opened new stores in Maple Grove, Eagan and 8 other locations across the country. All the while, The Tile Shop’s sales have risen each of its last four quarters by 8.5 percent, 11 percent, 16 percent and 13.5 percent respectively.

The Tile Shop’s fourth quarter and full year results are expected to drop in mid-February.
