The Smallest Paintings

Global Miniatures produces mini works of art.

The smallest paintings made by Global Miniatures are an inch and a half square. One of the most fun things about founder Molly Wheatley’s job? Seeing an awed crowd gather around her company’s booth at a trade show to watch one of her staff of four artists paint with really tiny brushes.

Plymouth-based Global Miniatures produces mini works of art, then digitally reproduces prints and frames them to be given as commemorative gifts. “Most of what we do is for the corporate market,” Wheatley says. That might mean painting a Tahitian resort as a souvenir of a sales incentive trip or painting a new headquarters or a new product to celebrate the opening or launch. “We’ve painted all kinds of things,” Wheatley says. “We’ve painted satellites for Lockheed Martin.”
