Taylor Corp. Announces Two Acquisitions in One Day

The company plans to buy two Texas-based companies—Venture Encoding and CardsDirect—through separate deals.

North Mankato-based Taylor Corporation on Monday announced plans to buy two Texas-based companies.

Taylor said it will acquire Fort Worth-based Venture Encoding and merge the company with Corporate Graphics Direct Marketing Solutions, its Arden Hills-based subsidiary, to form a new subsidiary called Venture Solutions, Inc.

Founded in 1972, Venture Encoding provides loan servicing and marketing services to financial organizations and employs about 200. Meanwhile, Corporate Graphics offers direct marketing and customer communication management programs to financial services, insurance, health care, and telecommunications companies.

Taylor said the merger will expand the two companies’ capacity to serve both new and existing clients.

In a separate deal, Taylor agreed to buy Dallas-based CardsDirect, which it will roll into The Occasions Group, its business unit that offers personalized business greeting cards and stationery. Founded in 1998, CardsDirect also offers custom-printed cards and stationery. Taylor said CardsDirect, which has about 20 employees, will continue to operate under its current name.

Taylor did not disclose the financial terms of either acquisition.

Taylor Corporation is a printing and marketing company that has more than 80 subsidiaries and about 9,000 employees. It is among Minnesota’s 20-largest private companies based on revenue, which totals an estimated $1.3 billion annually.
