Target Chooses Victoria Beckham As Next Spring Collection Series

Designers small and large have partnered with Target for years for its spring collection series, which has proven to be popular among shoppers.

Target’s 2016 spring design collaboration with Finnish brand Marimekko failed to generate the shopper frenzy that occurred last year over its Lilly Pulitzer products. But the Minneapolis-based retailer said Thursday it has high hopes for its upcoming spring collaboration with Spice-Girl-turned-fashion-icon Victoria Beckham.

The collection, which is set to arrive April 9, 2017, will feature more than 200 items ranging from easy-to-wear dresses, rompers and other clothing items for women and children.

Prices for the Victoria Beckham items are expected to range between $6 and $70, with most items under $40. The collection will be the first-ever to carry plus-size items in Target stores, albeit only a few hundred or so with much of the plus-size inventory said to be put up online.

“For a while now, I have been thinking how great it would be to work on clothes for a customer that either doesn’t want to pay or can’t pay designer prices,” Beckham said in a Q&A with Target. “I loved the idea of opening the brand up to a wider audience and being able to share my vision with a broader customer base.”

Target noted that the Victoria Beckham collection will be available in stores and online for three weeks, or while supplies last.
