Germany’s Salmo Leather is promoting its recently introduced “nanai” salmon leather as a luxury alternative to calfskin or snakeskin. Salmo’s raw material comes from organic salmon farms in Ireland. The name “nanai” comes from the part of Siberia where the tanning method was developed. New York designer Stuart Weitzman is using nanai in his new handbag collections this year.
