Mpls Seeks Development Proposals for Mill District Parcel
The City of Minneapolis said Wednesday that it's seeking development proposals for a vacant lot in the historic Mill District.
The parcel of land is located at 1100 Second Street South and offers views of Gold Medal Park, the Guthrie Theater, and the Mississippi riverfront. It also provides easy access to downtown Minneapolis, trails, transit, and interstates 35W and 94.
The asking price for the land is $437,850, or $45 per square foot-a sum that's based on an April appraisal-but the city said that offer price will be one of multiple criteria used to evaluate proposals.
The site is permitted for a range of commercial and residential uses. However, the city said it's looking for proposals that “maximize the number of jobs and/or housing units created to support the overall contribution to the city's tax base,” adding that proposed uses also should “contribute to the vibrancy of the Mill District area.”
The city will sell the property as-is.
Proposals are due October 22.
