Minnesota United FC Season Tickets Sell Out, Starts Waitlist
Among a bevy of sports teams in Minnesota, the state’s professional soccer team Minnesota United holds its own in terms of fan interest. The club announced Wednesday that it has sold out its maximum amount of 14,500 season tickets for its current 2018 run.
However, the announcement noted that, “A limited number of supporters section season tickets are still available for those ready and willing to stand for a whole match and sing and chant their hearts out.”
For fans late to box office, Minnesota United FC has started a waiting list for 2019 season tickets. That year will mark the first season at the team’s new Allianz Stadium, located in St. Paul and named for the German insurance company that secured naming rights for the field in early 2017, as TCB reported.
Current season ticket holders will be able to select seats for the debut Allianz Field season some time before August 31, during the official Allianz Field transition process.
Other fans can get on the seat waiting list by purchasing mini plans – 5-plus or 10-plus match packages – for 2018, or by purchasing 2018 supporters sections season tickets, though that route will make them eligible only for the same stadium area next year.
Supporters who buy current seats will receive a discount when they renew for next season. Those who choose the mini plan option will be marked on the waitlist by order of purchase time and will only be able to buy tickets for 2019 equal to the number of tickets in their selected mini plan.
The future site of Minnesota pro soccer games will accommodate 19,400 people total and is in the process of being built by Mortenson Construction.
Work on the $200 million stadium began December 2016 and is expected to be completed around February 2019, ahead of the season home opener, which will likely be early March.
