Lifetouch Acquires Photo Unit from Herff Jones

Terms of the agreement, which is expected to close next month, were not disclosed.

Eden Prairie-based Lifetouch, Inc., announced earlier this week that it has entered into an agreement to purchase Herff Jones' photography division.

Terms of the agreement, which is expected to close next month, were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, Lifetouch will acquire two facilities-a sales and management office in the southeastern Minnesota city of Lewiston and a production lab in Charlotte, North Carolina.

According Lifetouch spokesman Kelvin Miller, the company will offer jobs to “substantially” all of Herff Jones photography division employees, of whom there are about 1,000.

Miller said that Herff Jones' operations “complement” Lifetouch's established businesses. Lifetouch specializes in school, studio, and church photography.

“This decision is driven by a strategic commitment to focus on other business interests,” Joe Slaughter, Herff Jones president, said in a statement. “Both Herff Jones and Lifetouch are employee-owned companies sharing similar core values.”

Lifetouch employs more than 20,000 people and has locations in every state and Canada. It is among the state's 25-largest private companies based on revenue, which totaled an estimated $1 billion in its most recent fiscal year.
