Len Druskin Leaving Galleria

After 24 years at the high-end shopping center, the retailer is moving across the street to Southdale.

Len Druskin is ending its 24-year tenancy at Galleria.

Ali Kaplan over at TCB’s sister publication, Mpls-St. Paul Magazine, writes that the designer clothing store will leave Edina’s high-end shopping mall and reopen across the street at Southdale Center shortly thereafter.

“With the end of the Galleria lease came a very difficult decision making process,” Michael Druskin said in email. “After so many wonderful years at Galleria, both Galleria/Hines [building manager] and Len Druskin agreed that this change was in the best interest of both parties.”

The Galleria location resembled more of clearance or outlet store in recent months, Kaplan writes, which “had to be a factor in the noticeably slower foot traffic at Galleria in recent months.”

The move will coincide with a brand refresh to an “all premium” store. The new space will be adjacent to their current Southdale store, Len, which has outlet-style pricing and will remain open.

The store’s move out of Galleria appears to follow a trend of local retailers vacating space in the mall while national luxury brands move in. Departures include Three Rooms, Epitome, Epitome Paper, russell + hazel and California Closets. Meanwhile, national brands such as Kate Spade have moved in.
