Knowledge Marketing Grows, Moves to Bigger HQ

The company plans to add 12 staff members within the next year as it expands geographically and continues to add clients to its roster.

Knowledge Marketing recently moved its headquarters to a larger building to accommodate rapid growth.

Last month, the company moved from a 7,000-square-foot building located at Highway 55 and Vicksburg Lane in Plymouth to a 12,000-square-foot facility at 3650 Annapolis Lane-also in Plymouth.

Knowledge Marketing now has 28 Twin Cities employees, but it's looking to add 12 more staff members over the next year, according to Internet Marketing/Client Service Specialist Tim Martinson. He said that the new facility can accommodate roughly 40 to 50 people, although there's warehouse space that could house another dozen or so if it were to ever be converted to office space.

“We're sort of recession-proof right now,” Martinson said. “We're growing at a time when other businesses are shrinking.”

The company's core service is e-mail marketing. But its other offerings are gaining popularity as well. One is Good Donor-a software program targeting nonprofits that manages communications with donors and schedules charity pickups. Martinson said that Knowledge Marketing has roughly 15 to 20 Good Donor clients now, but its roster has been growing at a rapid rate and will likely continue to do so as the company expands its footprint geographically.

Good Donor currently serves clients in several large markets-the Twin Cities, Denver, Philadelphia, Boston, and Baltimore-but Knowledge Marketing is in the process of marketing the software in close to a dozen more, Martinson said.

Among the staff members that the company will hire in the coming months are sales people, programmers, and client services representatives.

Knowledge Marketing-which works with clients across the United States-has offices in Nebraska and Chicago in addition to its Plymouth headquarters. It employs about 40 people total.

Knowledge Marketing is a privately held company and doesn't disclose its sales. But the company appeared on the 2010 Inc. 500-a list of the fastest-growing companies in the United States. Inc. magazine reported that the company's 2009 revenue totaled $3.4 million, representing a 72 percent increase over 2006 sales.
