Jan McDaniel left her position as CEO of the Twin Cities chapter of the American Red Cross at the end of September, an entity she helped create when she oversaw the merger of the Minneapolis and St. Paul chapters several years ago. By mid-November, she and two partners had their LLC registration with the state for a new venture: JTM Vision, a consultancy focusing on turnaround strategies, team building, and communications and brand management.
McDaniel’s partners, Ted Canova and Mark Cross, were her colleagues at the Red Cross (chief communications and marketing officer and COO, respectively). Canova was also news director for WCCO-TV back when McDaniel was the station’s vice president and general manager. “Once we all worked together at the Red Cross, we realized how well we worked together and how complementary our skills were,” spanning marketing, journalism, manufacturing, turnarounds, and finance, McDaniel says.
