Inaugural Food, Ag, Ideas Week Planned for Twin Cities
The first-ever Food, Ag, Ideas Week, designed to promote agriculture entrepreneurship, will take place in the Twin Cities, Oct. 8-12.
Grow North, a Carlson School of Management initiative, on Wednesday announced plans for the five-day event, which will include conversations ranging from sustainable agriculture, food innovation and technology to the future of retail, school food, and craft beer with Minnesota’s Fortune 500 companies as well as start up founders. Confirmed speakers include General Mills chairman and CEO Jeff Harmening, Angie’s BoomChickaPop founder Angie Bastian, and Rachel Vegas, chief merchant of new direct-to-consumer grocery brand Brandless.
“With the number of companies and perspectives across food and agriculture, as well as our collaborative spirit, Minnesota is truly an epicenter of possibility,” says Lauren Mehler Pradhan, managing director of Grow North, which was founded last year. “The time is now to bring these voices together, get involved, and elevate our community.”
Organizations from the tech world, food industry, manufacturers, and government, including the Minnesota Department of Agriculture are all getting involved in the event.
“Change is not only happening across the country; it’s happening here,” Pradhan says. “It’s a tremendous time to be in the industry.”
